03 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE PROCESSOR
I’m Satvik, an Electrical and Computer Engineering student at Carnegie Mellon. I’m fascinated by how things work, and even more by what happens when ideas from different fields come together.
Technology gives me an endless supply of questions. How does a processor turn instructions into action? How can a tiny sensor capture something meaningful about the human body? What makes one piece of code dramatically faster than another? I enjoy following those questions from the underlying science to something I can build, test, and understand.
I’m especially drawn to the intersection of engineering and medicine. Working on wearable sensing, medical-imaging AI testing, and computational biology has given me different perspectives on how technology can support health research and care. I find that connection exciting: a circuit, an algorithm, or a better measurement can become part of a much bigger effort to understand and help people.
That curiosity is also why my projects span processors, embedded systems, GPU computing, and machine learning. I like learning the details of a system while keeping sight of the problem it is meant to solve. I’m happy digging into a waveform, working through a difficult bug, or learning enough about an unfamiliar field to ask better questions.
I bring that same energy to working with others. Teaching introductory ECE gives me a chance to help someone else make sense of a circuit; robotics gives me a chance to build alongside people with different strengths. I want to keep growing into an engineer who can connect disciplines, communicate clearly, and turn curiosity into useful things.
